When an old build is the right call
Three situations justify a rollback. Your phone is older and the newest build feels heavy. A feature you rely on, usually the downloader, broke in the new build and you need it today. Or the new build has a bug on your specific model that the previous one did not. In all three cases the older build is a bridge, not a home: plan to move forward again when the next build lands.
How to roll back safely
First, save your on-device drafts: publish them privately or save the videos, because uninstalling wipes them. Then uninstall the current build completely. Install the older APK from TikTok Mod Cloud releases the same way you installed the mod originally, allowing installs from your browser when asked. Sign in and confirm your feed, follows, and DMs are intact. They will be: everything account-related lives on TikTok's servers.
What you give up
Old builds miss security fixes from the newer base client, and TikTok eventually forces minimum versions, so an old build has a shelf life. Effects and filters added after your build will not appear either. Treat rollback as first aid: it stops the bleeding while you wait for the next proper build, which you install with the update guide.
