Why TikTok asks for so much
TikTok is a camera-first social app, so its permission list looks long next to a calculator. The mod requests the same permissions as the stock app because it is the same client underneath. Here is what each one actually does on TikTok Mod Cloud package, in plain words.
Permission by permission
Camera and microphone power recording, effects, duets, and LIVE. Storage / photos and videos lets the app save your downloads and read clips you upload. Location feeds local trends and the nearby content surfaces. Contacts is only used if you ask the app to find friends. Notifications deliver likes, comments, and DM alerts. Phone state pauses playback properly during calls.
What you can safely deny
Deny location if local trends do not matter to you; the feed works fine without it. Deny contacts unless you want friend suggestions. Keep camera, microphone, and storage if you record or download anything, since the mod's headline features need them. Android lets you grant permissions only while using the app, which is the setting we recommend. The broader safety picture is in the safety breakdown.
